To recognize the impressive efforts of our alumni, ASIJ presents two annual awards: The ASIJ Alumni Impact Award and ASIJ Young Alumni Changemaker Award.

The ASIJ Alumni Impact Award is presented annually to recognize distinguished alumni from the wide and diverse community of 10,500+ ASIJ alumni living around the globe. The award recognizes and honors alumni who have made a significant positive contribution in their field or pursuit, such as sustainability, community service, scientific/technological advancement, or the arts.
For many of us, the path from high school to a fulfilling career follows a relatively linear trajectory. For Ken Fukuda 鈥89, it was anything but.Ken spent more than a decade finding his purpose before becoming a decorated wildland firefighter and a leader in hazardous fuels reduction. Today, as a task force leader with the US Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Ken is on the front lines of one of the most urgent environmental issues of our time. It was for this work that Ken was selected as the recipient of the 2025 ASIJ Alumni Impact Award.

The ASIJ Young Alumni Changemaker Award is presented annually to recognize the outstanding and impactful accomplishments of alumni who graduated in the last 15 years. The award recognizes and honors young alumni who have brought about a significant positive change to a community or institution鈥攆or example, through service work or through a role in policy, advocacy, or the nonprofit sector.
When Rachael Fuchs graduated from ASIJ in 2017, she carried with her not just a high school diploma, but the seeds of leadership, community building, and a global perspective that would shape her path through MIT and into the heart of New York City鈥檚 tech industry. Those seeds have since begun to sprout and flourish,
leading to Rachael鈥檚 nomination for the Young Alumni Changemaker Award.
